The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: But It's Not the Vehicle Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can experience the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. However, whether players will actually want to equip it is another question, as there's only one Simpsons vehicle the community is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would undoubtedly love to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical car the patriarch designed himself in the 1991 episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Rather, fans will obtain the Simpsons' everyday well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it remains an recognizable element of the series. For those who pay attention to the game's car hitboxes, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance worthy of acquiring the perfect donuts!"

While the complete list of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is any indication, it appears fans will also get rims featuring a television displaying The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.
