Both Deceased Students Identified in the Providence Campus Shooting as Law Enforcement Continue Hunt for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who died in Saturday’s mass shooting in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant persisted following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences on social media, saying in part: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, family members said.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a police operation at a hotel about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our city”.

The assailant began shooting inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a authority informed the media outlet.

Law enforcement that searched the inn seized two handguns and magazines when the person of interest was arrested, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was discharged from care, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a independent school in Durham, North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

Additional Memorials

Cook was honored at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only in her youth... but at Brown University she was a shining example in that institution as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the club. “She was famed for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to Mr Umurzokov’s family, friends, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his potential.”
