Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Missions Are Excessively Difficult
The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, many players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.
Gamers have begun using custom matches created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how arduous these challenges have become.
Understanding BF6 Objectives
Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. It features four classes of assignments, but where most merely grant cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the only way of getting twelve from the forty-one primary weapons available in the game.
Some of these locked weapons may soon make their appearance on lists of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration on Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This mission is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you want to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Ridiculously Tough Mission
Another Reddit user highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles
This is difficult enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and possibly an additional option if you're lucky if you want to snipe from a significant distance.
The Alternative Method
There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
But when doing the challenges in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for finishing these in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Potential Changes
It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.
For now, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, hoping for a fairer overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
